‘The Body Snatcher’ was supposed to fight with his old foe Anthony Joshua (22-0-0), but the heavyweight king chose to make his debut on American soil and face Jarrell Miller in New York this summer.
A few days ago Eddie Hearn said that there are three big names that are being considered for a fight with Whyte – Dominic Breazeale, Luis Ortiz and Povetkin.
The good news for Whyte is that potential bout with Povetkin will be scheduled to take place in England, which means Whyte will have the home crowd on his side.
Povetkin on the other side is more than keen to return again in the UK, where he fought his last two fights in 2018.
Vadim Kornilov told Sky Sports the following:
“Povetkin was always interested in the fight. We know that Dillian Whyte was talking a lot about wanting the fight”.
It remains to be seen what the outcome will be, as for now, Whyte is more likely to choose a fight with Dominic Breazeale for the mandatory number one spot for the WBC heavyweight belt.
