A total of 22 medals were claimed by the Russian wrestlers who participated in the 2020 European wrestling championships this past week.
The event took place in Rome, Italy, with all the finest European wrestlers competing against each other.
The Russians won 9 gold (5 freestyle and 4 women), 6 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Ukraine and Azerbaijan came second with a total of 13 medals.
Bulgaria and Belarus captured three gold medals each, placing them second only to Russia.
22 of the countries that participated in the event won at least one medal from the Championships. The continental event didn’t serve as a qualifying tournament for the upcoming Olympics.
