The former Ultimate Fighter winner, who currently sits at 4-0 in his UFC career, is apparently struggling to find worthy opposition. In a post on Instagram, Hall vented his frustrations while claiming that several ranked fighters have turned down the opportunity to face him.
In response, the 34-year-old grappling ace is turning his attention to a couple of UFC legends as potential opponents in hopes that one of them will accept his challenge.
“Never thought I’d have to go this route, but then again, I also never imagined a laundry list of ranked professional tough guys turning down a fight with a skinny, blinky kid from the suburbs,” Hall wrote.
“Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo are two people for whom courage won’t ever be an issue and it’s for that reason I have looked up to both since I first saw them compete years ago. Maybe one of them would be willing to step in to show everybody else how it’s done? Pick the time and place, boys. I’ll be there.”
Hall hasn’t competed since last July when he earned a unanimous decision over Darren Elkins, which followed his submission victory over UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn.
He has struggled to find opponents in the past as well after sitting out for over two years between his fight with Penn and his previous win over former title challenger Gray Maynard.
Hall is obviously hoping former champions like Aldo or Edgar will heed his call, although it’s impossible to say if either matchup will actually come together.
Aldo has been calling for a fight against bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo following a split-decision loss in his 135-pound debut against Marlon Moraes this past December.
Meanwhile, Edgar is recovering from a first-round TKO loss to “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung at UFC Busan in South Korea. He has previously stated that he also plans on making the move down to bantamweight at some point in 2020.
Hall will remain on standby while he awaits word from the UFC on an opponent willing to sign the contract to face him as he looks to continue his climb up the featherweight ranks.
