Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole reports that, as expected, Triller’s Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. PPV will move from June 5th to June 19th. They’ve also, as Iole reveals, rejiggered it into a pure boxing card, adding an undercard and removing the previously revealed exhibition between Evander Holyfield and Kevin McBride.
Said exhibition is now “expected” to land in July.
The co-main event sees WBC super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (7-1, 2 KO) challenge unbeaten IBF/WBA champion Elin Cederroos (8-0, 4 KO). Crews-Dezurn previously lost her title to Alejandra Jimenez in 2020, but was reinstated after the latter failed a drug test, then shook off some rust with a decision over Ashleigh Curry on January’s Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell undercard. Sweden’s Cederroos, meanwhile, lifted the IBF belt from Femke Hermans in 2019, then added the WBA belt to her collection by narrowly edging out Alicia Napoleon Espinosa in hugely entertaining fashion.
Michael Hunter’s (19-1-1, 13 KO) blatant duck of Filip Hrgovic now has an explanation: he’s fighting Mike Wilson (21-1, 10 KO) in a WBA eliminator. “White Delight” is somehow ranked 12th at heavyweight by the WBA despite spending almost the whole last decade at cruiserweight, not fighting since 2019, and getting trounced by Denis Lebedev in his only meaningful fight.
he opener pits Andy Vences (23-2-1, 12 KO) against Jono Carroll (19-2-1, 5 KO). Both men are coming off of upset losses, Vences to Luis Lopez and Carroll to Maxi Hughes.
As mentioned before, the evening was already choked with boxing, including shows on Showtime (Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel, which is putting together an excellent undercard to make up for the main event), ESPN (Naoya Inoue vs. Michael Dasmarinas), DAZN (Jaime Munguia vs. Maciej Sulecki) and PPV (Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva).
