Top Rank signs heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba

Top Rank once again bolstered its heavyweight roster today with the addition of former Olympian and rising prospect Efe Ajagba.

Efe Ajagba is one of the most prospective heavyweight fighters.

“I made this decision to become a better boxer and to advance my career. That’s why I signed with James Prince and Top Rank,” Ajagba said. “When I return to the ring soon, you will see a new Efe Ajagba. Kay Koroma and I are working on my head movement and defense, as I seek to become a more well-rounded fighter.”

“Efe Ajagba is one of the most gifted young heavyweights I’ve seen in quite some time,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “He has immense physical tools and a great work ethic. I have the utmost confidence that we’re looking at a future heavyweight champion.”

Ajagba (13-0, 11 KO) previously competed on the PBC airwaves under the tutelage of Ronnie Shields, but will now work with former Team USA coach Kay Koroma alongside the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Jarrett Hurd.

The massive Nigerian went 4-0 in 2019, scoring violent finishes of Amir Mansour, Michael Wallisch, and Iago Kiladze alongside a decision over fellow Rio veteran Ali Eren Demirezen in his pro first trip to the judges. He started 2020 strong with a nine-round beatdown of Razvan Cojanu this past March.
