The World Boxing Council has announced on Instagram that the WBC franchise champion Vasyl Lomachenko will be facing IBF lightweight champ, Teofimo Lopez, on September 19.
It is without a doubt one of the most interesting fights in 2020. Loma is the WBO and WBA lightweight champion and the unification bout will make someone the undisputed king of the division, even though the WBC lightweight championship is in Devin Haney.
Bob Arum, who promotes both Loma and Lopes has said that the bout will take place on September 19, and he is hoping that there will be some fans in attendance.
There are three possible venues for now – MGM Grand and Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas or somewhere in Dallas.
The last time the two-time Olympic champion fought was in August 2019, while Lopez was last seen in action in December 2019.
