Unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev will have to defend his WBC title against the number one challenger Marcus Browne. The World Boxing Council’s President Mauricio Sulaiman has said that both parties have until 17th September to negotiate the contract otherwise a purse bid will be scheduled.
The Russian is being promoted by Top Rank while his American adversary is with PBC.
Beterbiev, 36, is being recognised as the best fighter in the light heavyweight division. His last fight was a TKO against Germany’s Adam Deines.
Browne, 30, defeated Beterbiev’s fellow countryman Denis Grachev via UD in April 2021.
