Noël van’t End became a national hero in the Netherlands this past month when he captured gold at the 2019 World Judo Championships in Japan.
It was Netherlands first world title in 10 years. The Dutch claimed gold in the -90 kg category, but his most recent act of kindness and humanity is the deed that is more important than all the gold medals in the world.
Noël van’t End has decided to raise money for KWF Kankerbestrijding which funds cancer research in his home country. He’s auctioning his World Championships-winning judogi from Tokyo.
“All the money I raise with it will go to a cancer foundation that is very close to my heart. I lost my dear grandma last year and 12 years ago I lost my best friends mother Josephine. They were very special people! And every time when I go on the mat I think about them to get extra power.
“With this gesture, I want to take away to the powerless feeling I had when they were suffering so much!”
Right now the highest bid for the historic judogi is 1000 euros.
