Former middleweight title contender Yoel Romero is nearing a deal for his next fight with a showdown against Uriah Hall expected on Aug. 22.
Both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup according to sources speaking to MMA Fighting, although no contracts have been issued at this time. News of the fight was first reported by ESPN.
Known as one of the most dangerous middleweights in the sport, Romero will look to bounce back from three straight losses after battling to razor-close decisions to Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa and Israel Adesanya in consecutive fights.
His last win came in 2018 when he knocked out former champion Luke Rockhold.
As for Hall, the former Ultimate Fighter finalist will seek the biggest win of his career when he faces off with Romero. Hall was originally supposed to compete at UFC 249 in May but his opponent Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza tested positive for COVID-19 and the fight was pulled from the card.
Now Hall will look to return in August while attempting to notch his third straight win after defeating Antonio Carlos Junior and Bevon Lewis in his past two performances.
