Former women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang was on the receiving end of a spectacular KO this weekend.
The Chinese fighter suffered her first career loss at UFC 261 this past weekend when Rose Namajunas defeated her via KO in the opening round.
The 28-year-old was furious at the ref for waving off the fight, but that was the right thing to do, as Namajunas was mauling her and things were already out of control for Zhang.
“Hopefully the UFC will schedule a rematch soon,” Zhang wrote in an Instagram post.

UFC president Dana White seemed keen on the idea at the post-event press conference.
“The rematch is a fun fight and a lot of people will be excited about that fight,” White said. “I don’t make fights the night of the fight but just … thinking off the top of my head, that makes a lot of sense.
Namajunas is now a two-time strawweight champion of UFC. Her previous reign ended in 2019 when Jessica Andrade defeated her.
