2012 Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs will return to the mat this month.
The American wrestler was last seen in action 8 months ago at the Pan-American Championships where he claimed his fourth gold medal. Since then the 32-year-old has been training by himself due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.
But his absence from the mat is about to be over. Burroughs is set to wrestle in an exhibition match against Junior World silver medallist and two-time NCAA champion Zahid Valencia on November 14 at a catchweight of 83.9 kg.
The card will produce a total of eight matches:
Main event: Jordan Burroughs vs Zahid Valencia (men’s freestyle)
Co-main event: Anthony Echemendia vs Evan Henderson (men’s freestyle)
Kyven Gadson vs Kollin Moore (men’s freestyle)
Alan Vera vs G’Angelo Hancock (Greco-Roman)
Lauren Louive vs Alli Ragan (women’s freestyle)
Sammy Sasso vs Tyler Berger (men’s freestyle)
Kayla Miracle vs Ana Godinez (women’s freestyle)
Cohlton Schultz vs Hamdy Moustafa (Greco-Roman)
