Saul Alvarez is yet to face Turkey’s Avni Yildirim in Miami next month, but that doesn’t mean Canelo is not working on his next moves.
Twelve months later than initially planned, the Mexican superstar will face WBO super-middleweight champion, Billy Joe Saunders.
Reports are saying that if Canelo manages to get past the Turk, his next fight will be the British champion. The fight will take place in the early day of May.

Cinco de Mayo land on a Wednesday this year which means the unification super-middleweight bout will be held on May 1 or May 8. Originally, Saunders and Alvarez had to face each other last May, but the fight got postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Canelo has returned to the ring in December when he defeated another British super-middleweight champ – Callum Smith.
Saunders then rejected an offer of September 12 as he was unwilling to take a pay cut for the behind-closed-doors bout as well as being unable to train properly during the lockdown.
Agreeing a fight deal has been made easier after Canelo signed a two-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing earlier this month. Hearn is also the promoter for Saunders.
