Andrade – Namajunas 2 booked for July 11

One of the most anticipated clashes in the UFC women’s strawweight division has been booked once again for July.

The rematch between two former champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas is scheduled to take place on one of Dana White’s “Fight Island” cards – UFC 251 on July 11.

The two ladies were supposed to fight on April 18 in Brooklyn, but the coronavirus pandemic postponed the clash. Several days later, ‘Thug Rose’ admitted she won’t be fighting during the virus crisis because members of her family got diagnosed with it.

In their first meeting, Andrade (20-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC), an underdog, stunned the MMA world by defeating Namajunas to win the strawweight championship via second-round slam knockout at UFC 237. Andrade then went on to drop the championship to current titleholder Zhang Weili, a loss which snapped a four-fight win streak.

The 27-year-old Namajunas, meanwhile, has not fought since the loss to Andrade. The loss snapped a three-fight win streak.
