Boxing promotions company Top Rank has officially announced the date for the light heavyweight unification bout between IBF champion Artur Beterbiev (14-0) and WBC titleholder Oleksandr Gvozdyk (17-0).
The pair will meet on October 18 in Philadelphia, US. Both Gvozdyk, 32, and Beterbiev, 34, were standout amateur fighters, for Ukraine and Russia, respectively. Both competed at the 2012 Olympic games, Gvozdyk winning a bronze medal at light heavyweight and Beterbiev losing to Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweight quarterfinals.
Beterbiev’s last fight was a victory over Radivoje Kalajdzic in May, while Gvozdyk last fought in March when he defeated Doudou Ngumbu.
