The 4-division world champion Saul Alvarez is hoping that he’ll be announcing his next fight this week.
The Mexican was involved in an ongoing breach of contract lawsuit against DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions. The two sides reached an agreement last wekk which means Alvarez is now a free agent.
The 30-year-old has no obligations with promoters or TV networks and he said that he wants to fight before the end of the year.
“I hope that this week we can have something done, something concrete and be able to announce what day, with whom, where it will be,” said Canelo in an interview with Rodolfo Vargas.
“I don’t care if it’s December 19 or Christmas, I don’t care, what I want is to fight this year and on any day. For me, when you have to work you have to work and I am willing to sacrifice anything.”
Regarding the potential opponents, among those mentioned in the last few months include Caleb Plant, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and Ryota Murata.
“What I want is to make good fights and for people to see great fights, and they are all good fighters. We are going to see which one of them is more comfortable and ready for December,” Canelo said.
Alvarez hasn’t foughs since November 2019 when he defeated Sergey Kovalev to capture the WBO light heavyweight title which he vacated later on.
