FIAS invites sambo athletes to “play safe” campaign

“Play True Day” is event that is dedicated to Clean Sport and is intended to raise awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others.

This year, given the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having around the globe, WADA is seizing the opportunity to engage for solidarity.

To engage the global anti-doping community – and all stakeholders in the fight to protect Clean Sport – around the theme Play Safe on Play True Day 2020, asking them to share what they are doing and why to curb the spread of the virus.

“You, me, we all know of amazing stories of how sports have helped people in their lives,” FIAS Athletes Commission Chairperson Laure Fournier encourages.

“It contributes on a daily basis to peace by bringing people together, around the same goal, the same passion shared with no difference in gender, religion, skin color, social class… On the field or on a mat, we’re all equal and all together…In this time of crisis we see more than ever that people need sport in their lives, and they find ways to continue doing sports together, as events on social media, sharing their daily routine to help those lacking ideas, sharing tutorials… Sport has never been such a big part of life as it has become since the beginning of the confinement. Continue sharing your ideas, your tips, spread the word and keep physically fit as it is so important to then be mentally fit!”
