Jan Błachowicz captures light heavyweight title, UFC 253 results

Poland’s Jan Błachowicz is the new UFC light heavyweight champion following a second-round TKO victory against Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 in Abu Dhabi last night.

Błachowicz won the vacant LH title after Jon Jones vacated the belt couple of months ago. The fight was stopped at the 4:36 mark of the second round when the European was mauling Reyes after he demolished him for two straight rounds.

Reyes’s southpaw stance didn’t help him very much, as Blachowicz was using his leg kicks brilliantly and was cutting the distance whenever he wanted. Both fighters were very methodical in their approach in the opening round, as Reyes couldn’t put the pressure on his opponent.

The Polish fighter was the dominant force in the second round, as he was throwing all kinds of combos to the body of Reyes, who was at times pretty slow to answer back properly.

Blachowicz’s body kicks started to wear and tear Reyes, as the European was switching floors beautiful. It all ended when Jan connected with several combinations that shook Reyes and he lay down on the floor.
