Former IBF bantamweight title challenger Jason Moloney will have a new opponent for his June 25 fight.
The Australian will be headlining the scheduled Top Rank card, but he won’t be fighting Colombia’s Oscar Negrete who withdrew from the bout because of an eye injury.
Negrete will be replaced by Mexico’s Leonardo Baez in a scheduled 10-round bantamweight bout live from MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We just had the change in opponent, but quite honestly we are coming over here in great shape and ready to fight anyone in the world,” Moloney told BoxingScene.com. “He’s quite filled out for the division, a lot bigger (than Negrete) but similarly aggressive style. We’re focused and ready for this fight.”
Initially, the 29-year-old Moloney had to fight Joshua Greer Jr. on April 25, but the event got postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
