Khabib returns to Russia from US

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has touched down in his homeland of Russia just three weeks before his still scheduled fight with Tony Ferguson.

“The Eagle” has returned to Russia from the US where he was preparing for his UFC 249 main event. As you know, due to the coronavirus outbreak the CDC of the US prohibited all public gatherings of 50 or more people, which means all sporting events are off. Still, UFC President Dana White is a firm believer that the highly anticipated event will still happen, but up to this point, there is no official info on the venue.

According to Khabib’s manager, Rizvan Magomedov, he has returned home from his regular training base at American Kickboxing Academy’s San Jose, California headquarters after the facility closed to the public last week, TASS reported.

Making proceedings even more difficult for Khabib is the current law in Russia, whereby any Russian national returning to the country from abroad must submit to 14 days obligatory self-isolation upon arrival, which could force him to train alone for two weeks of his camp.
