Taekwondo Oceania to host first online Poomsae Championships

World Taekwondo Oceania (WTO) is set to host its first online Poomsae and Para-Poomsae Championships in July due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will take place from July 12 to 14 and all nations from the continent are invited to participate.

The competitors will have to perform two compulsory sequences, otherwise known as Poomsae, with a maximum of 60 seconds break between the two performances.

It follows a similar competition announced earlier this week by Taekwondo Europe who has a color belt competition for athletes around the world of all ages.

There will be three categories in the Para-Taekwondo event: 12-15 years old, under 30 and over 30.

In able-bodied taekwondo, there will be children as young as nine eligible to compete with three categories available for those under the age of 18, kids, cadet and junior.

The senior levels will have under 30, under 40, under 50, under 60, under 65, and over 65 categories.

A deadline of July 1 has been set for applications with the video link submission opening on July 3. The deadline for submitting video links will be July 7 and on July 11 there will be the publication of participant lists.

Only one video can be submitted, featuring the two performances with medals being awarded for those judged as the best.
