UFC unexpectedly cancels event

The UFC unexpectedly cancelled one of its scheduled events for 2019. ESPR reported that UFC 233, which was planned for 29-th of January in “Honda Center”, Anaheim will not take place.

Jouseph Benavidez (26-5 MMA, 13-3 UFC) and the undefeated Davison Figueiredo (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) were supposed to face off in a next bout that will declare the next challenger for the belt in the division and Ben Askren was scheduled to make his debut.

The flyweight title fight between the Olympic champion Henry Cejudo and the champion in the bantamweight division TJ Dillashow was originally scheduled for the very same card, however, it was moved to ESPN’s debut event with UFC on 19th of January in Brooklyn and now we get the reason why this has been done.

This is the second time the UFC cancels an event in “Honda Center, Anaheim. The same thing happened back in 2016 when UFC 208, which featured the bout Tito Ortiz-Chael Sonnen. The fight was moved to another event in Brooklyn.
