7 gold medals for Bulgaria at the 1st World Muay Thai Festival

Bulgaria’s national muay thai team did pretty amazing at the 1st World Muay Thai Festival that took place in Thailand.

Under the guidance of Nikolai Atanasov and Mario Kirilov, the Bulgarian fighters captured 7 gold medals and two silver medals, while later today the youths Vencislav Buchvarov (67 kg) and Georgi Dalakmanov (71 kg) will go out for two more golds.

There were 11 fighters in total that made it to the finals.

Teodora Kirilova (54 kg), Sevdalin Slavov (67 kg), Peter Staikov (71 kg), Hristiyan Korunchev (75), Ivan Ivanov (86 kg), Hristiyan Totev (cruiserweight) and Kostadin Kostov (heavyweight) all captured gold in their categories.

Unfortunately one of the most superior Bulgarian kyokushin fighters – Nikolai Yorgov, lost his final match and he finished second. Karina Petkova also grabbed a silver medal.

The grand closening ceremony of the 1st World Muay Thai Festival will be held on March 16.
