UWW denies reports about Greco-Roman wrestling Olympic future

Greco-Roman wrestling ain’t going nowhere, according to UWW President Nenad Lalovic.

Several days ago there were reports from Dagestan that the Olympic future of discipline is at stake. The President of Azerbaijan wrestling said that Greco-roman wrestling could and will be replaced by beach wrestling starting at Paris 2024 Olympic games.

In an official statement by UWW to TASS, Nenad Lalovic is saying that Greco-Roman has always been and will be part of the Olympic plans for wrestling.

He added that Namig Aliyev’s words have been taken out of context because the interviewer wasn’t familiar with the Olympic context.
