WBA orders Mahmoud Charr – Trevor Bryan

The World Boxing Association has finally remembered the existence of its regular heavyweight champion Mahmoud Charr.

Following a three year hiatus from pro boxing, the 36-year-old Lebanese-born German fighter of Syrian descent will have to step inside the ring or vacate his WBA belt.

WBA has ordered a fight between him and the interim champion/mandatory challenger Trevor Bryan and the bout will have to take place by January 29th, 2021.

The pioneer boxing organization requested Don King Promotions to send the contracts signed by both parties as soon as possible with details on the fight venue and date. Should any or both fighters fail to sign the contract, he or they will lose their position as champion or/and mandatory challenger.

The last time Charr was seen in action was in 2017 when he defeated Russia’s Alexander Ustinov via UD.

Bryan has also been inactive in the past two years. The 31-year-old American hasn’t fought since 2018 when he beat BJ Flores via TKO in the 4th round.
