World Sambo Championships prize fund revealed

The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) announced yesterday the prize fund for the upcoming 2019 World Championships that will take place in Seoul, South Korea, on November 8-10.

Just like last year’s event, the medalists from the competition will be sharing out the amount of $216 000. Depending on the place they finish, here is how the distribution works out:

1st place – $3000

2nd place – $2000

3rd place – $1500

A total of 27 sets will be awarded to the best sambists from all over the world. There will be 9 weight categories among men, 9 among women and 9 in Combat Sambo.

FIAS President, Vasiliy Shestakov had this to say:

“The World SAMBO Championships is the central annual tournament in the international FIAS calendar. Strongest athletes from different corners of the globe dispute on sambist mats the right to be called the best sambists of the world. We know very well what tremendous efforts lay behind their bright and technically impressive performances at the competitions. And certainly, we want to reward athletes for their achievements”.
